When is rail freight interesting to offer to clients?

Hi,

Since I come from the Netherlands, I have never used rail freight before since we use airfreight, sea freight and road freight as our main shipping modes. Sometimes we use barges to ship containers inland but it's not common to use rail freight. When would it be interesting to make this offer to your clients?

Hi Amro,

I came across using rail freight in the USA. Generally people don't prefer moving through rail because it takes more time than road freight. Obviously its cheaper option than road freight. If the goods are not urgent and KPI is saving cost, its advisable to use rail freight that too after comparing with road cost.

Hi,

The reason for being cheaper is, In the rail freight large volume will be moved whereas in the road freight only specific (maximum of one truck load) will be moved. Truckers has many routing options, rail will be moving from station to station.
