Last week we faced a different issue with DHL shipment. Our US team sent the samples of 6 pcs from Boston, USA to Chennai, India. They mentioned 1 pc in the description, DHL took this to examination. They asked to provide the letter stating these are not for sale and there were so many phone calls to customer care. This took 13 days to clear all the procedures and we received samples very late.

In my opinion, DHL is an amateur club that you need to avoid even if it means you'll pay a bit more. Better use FedEx or UPS for the matter. But when declaring 1 piece when they are actually 6 is asking for issues, to be honest. But anyway, you solved the problem.

Yeah, we solved the problem, but it took so long. Fortunately, these were not urgent pieces, if it was urgent it would have been difficult.

For me, to avoid delays in customs clearance, we need to indicate the full/complete description of items and be specific about what those items are and the purpose of items to avoid delay because some countries are very strict with the description.

Yes, you are correct. For air parcels its better to mention complete descriptions to avoid such delays.
